Please pray for us as we continue our journey in Indonesia. We have been here 3 days already, but have some tough work and long days still ahead of us.
We have already completed our training in Medan. There, our team shared about how to resolve conflict in the church. Then a fellow team member, and licensed clinical psychologist, shared practical steps on how to be a good counselor to the people you come into contact with. She also did a training session on how to be a good parent and how to discipline your children well.

Want to get consistent sharing Jesus with your family and know it's making a difference? This 6 Faith Habits to Consistency checklist will give you quick ideas to steadily point your family to Jesus' amazing love.
All the training received great feedback, and we were thankful to be able to share our unique giftings with them and to adapt to their needs.
David was able to preach in the church we were working in, through a translator, of course. Translation makes for quite an interesting sermon, as two men were up there emphatically delivering a sermon!
Watch this funny clip:
We have now moved on to our work in another region. Here we must be even more respectful of the culture, as the people live very differently from us. We hope not to offend with our dress or our actions.
We would love it if you would please pray for us as we continue on this long journey.
Would you join in praying with me now for our trip?
Pray:
- for physical health for the team, especially for our stomachs (we’re eating rice 3x/day and very spicy food), for headaches, and for sore throats
- for continued unity for our team of 3
- for endurance as one of us is teaching at any time from 8:30am-9:30pm (we’re 12 hours ahead of Central Time in the U.S.)
- for clarity of thought and wisdom as we plan, adapt, and deliver our talks, especially through translation
- for God’s love to be evident in all our actions and the way we speak to each other and treat each other
- for the people we meet, that they will want to know more about what brings us to serve them, and that they will see and feel our love for them
- for our hearts to be softened, moved, and changed by seeing God at work among a people so far away from our own culture
- for our safety and for that of our hosts, that there will be no trouble doing our work in this new region, and that our presence will not harm our hosts’ work here
- for the children, parents, teachers, counselors, and others that will learn about how to relate to themselves and each other better, that they will be enriched by these talks
- for endurance and patience for our 5 flights returning home totally at least 36 hours, that we would make all our connecting flights (unlike the way over here!)
We are excited for our work. We are extremely grateful to have a talented psychologist (and friend) on our team. We are blessed to be able to teach on topics that were urgent to the needs of the nationals.
As a way of showing your support and encouragement for our team, will you consider “liking” this post (below) so that we know you are praying for us?
Will you also consider passing this post on (use one of the “Share This:” buttons) to your mission-minded and praying friends so that more people will know and also be able to pray for us?
We need, more than anything, for your cloud of prayers and encouragement to cover us. Thank you.
Share some ways you are praying for us.

Yes, we were praying for you ALL this morning. We hope you are feeling better and your throat gets better. I can’t imagine having a sore throat and having to teach that much. Great clip of David. Love the enthusiasm of the translator. God is doing great things through your all’s work there. Your seeds will grow. This is funny, last night we had our Adios dinner for our reverse mission trip for the ladies from Monterrey, Mexico. Kari and Yvonne (the translator) were speaking to the crowd and Jim leaned over and said I didn’t know Kari was fluent in Spanish. He thought she was translating what Yvonne was saying. 😀
So good to hear your specific needs as I was thinking of you all and praying this morning.
Know we*ve got you covered and asking God to show his presence to you in new and fresh ways as you serve Him in such challenging ways.
Blessings
Gabriel
Keeley, thank you for your detailed message. We are praying for you. God bless. Paul
