God really does say “I love you” on the pages of the Bible.
Well, after a long summer, fall is starting up. With new hectic workloads, comes increased productivity for me. May sound odd, but the more things I have to do, the more actually gets done.
In that vein, I am working on posting some of my Bible Study talks from this last year to my Bible Study page (you can follow the previous link or choose the menu option on the header of my webpage that says “Bible Study”). If you’ve never checked it out, I encourage you to take a look around. It’s an integral piece to this blog, alongside the posts I write.

Back to “I love you…” Isaiah 43:1-13 is a special passage to me for several reasons.
1. This is where I first found the words “I love you” spoken by God, to me and to you. These were words I especially needed to hear during my struggles with singleness, loneliness, and depression.
2. I was able to teach a short devotion on it to young women as we were going through a time of sharing our testimonies with our small groups. The content of that devotion is my most recent publication on my blog: Isaiah 43:1-13: Witnessing to God. Please check it out and leave comments (it’s pretty short!)
3. I was able to read it at my grandmother’s funeral, signifying the rough waters and fires that she went through during her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. (Read more about her in Victims of a Vicious Monster and Learning to Love in New Ways.)
I hope you enjoy and have the change to read/skim or listen to Isaiah 43:1-13: Witnessing to God, all of which you can do on that page.
How has Isaiah 43 “spoken” to you in your life? What meaning do you find in it now?

GET YOUR FAMILY'S FAITH LIFE MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
I know what you mean about getting more things done when we’re busy. It seems like, on a busy day, even 5 minutes of down-time is a waste. So I try to put every single minute to good use, because if I slow down for even one second, I know I won’t get everything done. However, on unplanned, unstructured days, I rarely get anything done!
I looked at your Bible study page, and I really like what you have to say. Thanks for linking to the scripture passage, by the way. So nice you were able to use this at your grandmother’s funeral. Mine just passed away, as well. I was complaining to a friend about the expected rituals of viewing the body and wringing tears from everyone during the sermon. I really hate that; I’d rather grieve by myself in my own way and in my own time. However, my friend reminded me that funeral services can be great opportunities to witness to those still living. I thought back to the service, and he really was right! It was a great witness, and I’m glad you had the opportunity to do the same for those attending your grandmother’s funeral.
Thanks for your comments Amy! I’m working on getting back in the swing of things, but my days are still pretty unstructured right now. I just have to start making structure, which is hard for me!
I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away as well. I do hope you were able to grieve in your own way. I’m thankful for your friend too, who pointed to some of the other positive aspects of funerals. I think funerals and weddings are the major times to witness, since people that would maybe never go to church are there! I also see it as a good time to spend with family and just reconnect with them. Thanks again for your comment and kind words about the Bible Study page!
