Let’s talk about that spiral.

The one that sneaks in quietly…

👉 It starts with thinking you’re too busy and it’s too hard to fit in “another thing”
👉 Then it turns into “whenever I try anything faith-related, the kids don’t listen or they whine and complain”
👉 Followed by wondering “what’s even the point?” and hoping the church is doing a “good enough” job on their own
👉 Until suddenly you’ve convinced yourself to quit again… all while pretending it’s just a ‘break.’

The truth?
Maturity in this area is what keeps me from falling back into that loop.

It’s not motivation.
It’s not a perfect plan.
It’s learning to show up even when I don’t feel like it.

Because discipline is way quieter than self-sabotage…

But the results? They speak volumes.

Here’s the truth 👇

48-year-old me is wiser, calmer, and more consistent than 28-year-old me ever was.

And I’m not slowing down anytime soon.

You know what’s tough?

Feeling alone and weighted down all while trying to juggle schedules, raise kind kids, and not lose my cool every 5 minutes.

Putting everyone else first until your emotional tank hits rock bottom.

Next thing you know, you’re scrolling social media, binging shows, snapping at your kids, and you hardly recognize yourself anymore.

But when I started waking up earlier in the mornings (before my kids!) and learning how to build consistent habits, everything changed.

✅ Waking up before my kids helps me have some quiet, uninterrupted “me time” before I need to give to my kids.
✅ Getting at least 7 hours of sleep gives me the energy to know I’m rested enough to practice patience and loving responses and deep breaths when my kids are fighting or whining.
✅ Building consistent habits, like waking early and having a cup of tea so I’m calm and parent better, made me realize I’m worth the effort too

Yes—it’s a juggle.
Yes—it takes intention.

If you’re trying to read the Bible with your kids, but not seeing results, THIS might be why.

You’re spending too much time on:
❌ Trying to understand the passage first.
❌ Trying to make it kid-friendly.
❌ Making sure your child heard and “got” it all.

When you should be focused on:
✅ Reading it like you would a passage from a story.
✅ Getting as far as you can in 2 minutes and only continuing if it’s going well.

Hi, I’m Keeley 👋  If you want to finally get consistent with your family’s faith, I’m your girl.   Most people think sheer will power is enough to get consistent, but the truth is, it’s not about digging deep and powering your way through. It’s about understanding how to make a habit stick so you can put it on auto-pilot.  Here’s exactly what I’d do: ✅ Step 1: Gather any items you need (Bible, candle, lighter, guide, etc.) – This is crucial because putting what you need where you need it ahead of time makes it more likely to do the action. Most people skip this and end up not taking action when it’s time because it’ll take too long to gather everything you need. ✅ Step 2: Pick a spot where your family already gathers for other habits and put your items here– Once you have your items in place, this will help you be ready to get started with the new habit immediately after you finish your usual habit in this spot without having to think about what comes next or getting motivated to start. ✅ Step 3 (Controversial one): Only do 2 minutes of the new habit as you start out – A lot of people ignore this, but when I started reading scripture with my 6yo, 3yo, and 1 yo, I saw it made a huge difference in my keeping going because I didn’t feel like a failure if we couldn’t make it more than 2 minutes.

This is a concept I REALLY need you to understand if you want to get consistent with your family’s faith. If you want to see your children know and love Jesus, you need to focus on—

BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION.

Everyone wants to skip straight to family devotions, but if you don’t first build up some smaller habits, you’ll have nothing to show for it.

Here’s how to actually do it—SAVE THIS & take notes 📝

✅ Stick to a clear strategy
✅ Focus on building small habits first
✅ Track your habits regularly
✅ Stay consistent even when it’s uncomfortable
✅ Don’t be afraid to just do 2 minutes of a habit
✅ Choose 4–6 meaningful faith habits that actually move the needle
✅ Stop chasing the idea of having to do everything perfectly
✅ Protect your family’s peace

It’s NOT:
❌ Doing random prayers every week
❌ Constantly switching approaches
❌ Going through the motions without intention
❌ Having a perfect family devotion time

This doesn’t happen overnight—and you’ll need to resist the urge to give up every time you feel doubt that it’s working.

Most people underestimate how much foundational habit building they truly need—and overestimate how far along they are.

I really believed that to do a good job instilling

I really believed that to do a good job instilling faith in my kids meant we sat quietly listening to me reading scripture to them.

It felt like the “right” thing to do… the only way to really get my kids to love God’s word and believe in Jesus.

But here’s what I’ve learned👇

Trying to make my family look like an “ideal Christian family” only led to my feeling discouraged about myself as a mother and kept me from being consistent because I could barely get my kids to listen for 2 minutes without yelling.

✨ I used to think kids learn about Jesus best quietly listening to scripture (even if I had to yell to get them to be quiet 🤔)
✨ Until I realized kids learn from repetition, asking questions, interacting, and from everyday moments acted out in real-time

Now I know that:
✅ Kids can listen and learn while having their hands busy
✅ Scripture reading can be just a verse a day read at the back door
✅ Starting a new habit is easier if you aim for just 2 minutes a day
✅ My family doesn’t have to look like other families. To really get consistent, I had to let go of doing this “the right way” and to take one consistent action every day.

These changes impacted everything.

And if you’re still stuck in feeling ashamed that you don’t measure up to the “ideal Christian family,” here’s your reminder: You don’t have to stay there.

Let me save you some time ⬇️

Here are a few things I learned the hard way—so you don’t have to.

Things I’d never waste time on if I were trying to get consistent with my family’s faith again:

❌ Insisting on everyone being still and silent– Kids can learn while moving around and actively listening.

❌ Looking for crafty “kids’ activities” – That’s just not my gifting and it kept me from getting started.

❌ Insisting we fully complete every activity we started – It wasn’t helpful to keep reading a scripture passage when one of my kids was melting down, so knowing that 2 minutes was good enough for that day was really freeing and made me more likely to try again the next day.

The truth? You don’t need to do everything perfectly or completely to succeed. You just need to focus on what actually moves the needle.

✨ When I realized I could teach my kids in a way that worked best with my gifts and my kids, it freed me to realize we were making progress even if we only accomplished 2 minutes of an activity.
