Who am I? Who was I created to be? What is my life story? What am I to think about my body image? How am I supposed to relate to other people?
These are the questions I’ve been pondering the last two weeks. Specifically, I’ve been studying and thinking about these questions in association with the Bible Study I teach for young women. We’ve just completed a series on Finding Your Identity and Living It Out.
GET YOUR FAMILY'S FAITH LIFE MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
Want to get consistent sharing Jesus with your family and know it's making a difference? This 6 Faith Habits to Consistency checklist will give you quick ideas to steadily point your family to Jesus' amazing love.
In this series, we looked at what the Bible has to say about who we are. I encourage you to follow the links below and check out my work. Thanks for taking the time to browse, skim, read, or listen to the audio.
1. Body Image
In this study, I look at the false standard that the media, fashion and beauty industries (i.e. our culture) give us for what we should look like and how we should feel about ourselves. Next, I contrast this with what the Bible says about body image and who we are and how we are to find God’s true standard for viewing our bodies. I end with some practical ways to know what a truly healthy body image is. There’s also a great video link in there from an ad campaign designed to show how distorted the actual photos of models we see are. (Click HERE to go to this study.)
In this study, I look at what true relationships are meant to be and how we were really created to be in relationship. I point us to how it is possible through Christ to have these relationships and what it means for our daily living. At the end, I talk about 5 starting points for having healthy relationships.
